In-Home Supports

In-Home Supports refer to services provided directly in an individual’s private home or residential setting to assist with daily living activities and promote independence.

These supports are person-centered and tailored to the unique needs and goals of the individual, and they may include help with personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, communication, household management, and behavior support.

In the context of PA ODP, In-Home Supports aim to empower individuals with Intellectual Disability and/or Autism to live as independently as possible in their own homes, while ensuring their health, safety, and overall well-being.

10 Examples of In-Home Supports:

  1. Assistance with personal hygiene (e.g., bathing, grooming, oral care)

  2. Support with meal preparation and nutrition planning

  3. Medication reminders or assistance with medication routines

  4. Household management (e.g., cleaning, laundry, organizing)

  5. Skill-building for daily living tasks (e.g., learning to cook or budget)

  6. Communication support (e.g., using AAC devices, social stories)

  7. Behavioral support and coping strategy implementation

  8. Support with morning or bedtime routines

  9. Health and wellness activities at home (e.g., home exercises, stretching)

  10. Assistance with scheduling and time management
